SLHC Produces Video: “Say Their Names” Project

Updated: Oct 18, 2023

As part of its mission to document and record the people and significant events in our community, the Silver Lake History Collective Committee (SLHC) has created a permanent record of the “Say The Names” project. The committee produced a video interviewing the creators of the “Say The Names” project. Other documentation include links to another short film, a spreadsheet with all of the names and a video of the Candlelight Vigil held around the reservoir supporting the end of police brutality. SLHC hopes that this work will give context to anyone seeking more information about Silver Lake’s response to the issues raised by Black Lives Matter and other groups.

Land Acknowledgement

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council acknowledges all of the original stewards and inhabitants of the Los Angeles Basin, or Tovaangar, and their descendants. We pay tribute to the Gabrielino-Tongva (Toviscanga) people who lived and cared for Yaanga & Maawnga—the lands which include present day Silver Lake—as well as the Kizh, Chumash, & Fernandeno-Tataviam Band who also inhabited Tovaangar.
