As a local physician I'd like to share my unique perspectives on preserving and improving the health of our community and our district. You may see me running the reservoir loop, shopping at the farmers market, or cleaning up trash on our neighborhood's beautiful stairs. I ran for Neighborhood Council to bring fresh energy and professional expertise to our community's pressing challenges. As a small business owner in place marketing, I understand how to unite diverse voices while driving meaningful change. My career in community engagement and marketing has focused on ensuring diverse voices are heard and represented, and as a recent UCLA Anderson Executive MBA graduate, I'll bring this leadership expertise to make Silver Lake more inclusive for all residents. My husband Jaime and I, with our puppy Frida, chose Silver Lake as our home four years ago and I can't wait to contribute. Thank you!

I’m running for the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council because I believe in the power of local action to shape our community’s future. As a long-time Silver Lake resident, I’ve worked to engage neighbors in the democratic process. Now, I want to take that commitment further—advocating for policies that reflect our community’s diverse needs, fostering greater civic engagement, and ensuring Silver Lake remains a vibrant, inclusive place for all. With a background in community development and public engagement, I understand how to bring people together, navigate city processes, and advocate for resources that benefit our neighborhood. Whether it’s addressing pedestrian safety, supporting small businesses, or protecting our green spaces, I will work collaboratively to ensure Silver Lake thrives. I’d be honored to represent you on the council. I ask for your vote so we can continue building a stronger, more connected Silver Lake together.

(She/Her/Hers)
Serving as a Region 3 representative, vice-chair, and co-chair of the Silver Lake NC has been an incredible honor. I’m proud of the work we’ve done, especially in revitalizing the Planning Goals & Visions Committee. For the 2025-2027 term, I look forward to continuing this progress by expanding our outreach efforts. I aim to build stronger connections within the community through organizing walks, cleanups, and engaging with local small businesses. These initiatives will help us serve beyond just Neighborhood Purpose Grants and Community Improvement Projects. While our funding is limited, the opportunity to connect neighbors and provide resources is invaluable. I am passionate about ensuring that every voice in our community is heard, especially those historically underrepresented. It’s been a deeply rewarding experience, and I would be honored to continue contributing to Silver Lake’s growth and cohesion.

Region 5 Representative
Stephanie Fajuri
I have lived in Region 5 of Silver Lake for over 12 years in a rent-controlled apartment, and have served as a governing board member of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council since January 2024. As a nonprofit attorney who advocates for older adults, people with disabilities, and access to health care, I am eager to continue to help make a difference here in my neighborhood. I am particularly proud of the work we have done as a Neighborhood Council this last year in providing funding to local nonprofit agencies to promote arts and culture, improving access to important medical testing devices, assisting children in the neighborhood with their back-to-school needs, and many other projects. It would be an honor to continue to serve on this Neighborhood Council and to think through creative solutions to the problems our neighborhood faces, together.

Region 6 Representative
David Omenn
(He/Him)
It's been a privilege to serve on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council for the past three years, including the past two as its Co-Chair while representing Region 6. During that time, we have granted more than half of our annual budget to deserving local non-profits and schools to strengthen our community, and we've overseen a return to in-person connection emerging from COVID, including our annual Back-to-School event at Bellevue Park. I first moved to Silver Lake in 2012 as a young professional and now am raising three children here. I want this to be a neighborhood where all stakeholders can thrive. I'm a former classroom teacher and have worked my entire career in education, so I have particular interest in advocating for young people and strengthening ties to our schools. I've also spent more hours than I can count jogging around the Reservoir -- and pushing my kids on swings there -- so I have a special interest in its future. I'd be honored to be re-elected!

Region 6 Representative
Katie Tennel
(She/Her)
As a resident of Silver Lake and a former resident of Echo Park and East Hollywood, I care deeply about our neighborhood and city. I’m a social studies teacher in LAUSD and a longtime community organizer, and I’m eager to bring my experience and passion to the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. I’ve volunteered on City Council and School Board campaigns, served on LAUSD’s Greening and Climate Resilience Committee, and used my platform as an educator to advocate for public education, green infrastructure, and protecting immigrant communities. My priorities include strengthening investment in schools, expanding green space, improving walkability and transit, and supporting local businesses. On the Neighborhood Council, I’ll work to ensure our resources go toward projects that make Silver Lake more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable for everyone. I’m ready to listen, collaborate, and get things done. Let’s build a better Silver Lake together!

Region 7 Representative
Nikos Constant
I went to UCLA, Loyola Law School, moved to SLNC Region 7 in the late 1990s, work as an attorney, and teach a course on environmental law in the Environmental Analysis department at Pitzer College. The art and intellectual communities of Silver Lake influence the world. My goal is to encourage and attract more participation, especially from those not yet heard, in this unique marketplace of ideas.

Official Mascot
Skibbles
Created by 5th grade stakeholder Nicholas 0. in 2024, Skibbles is a ten-year old magical creature who lives in the depths of the Silver Lake Reservoir. Skibbles has magical power to move water on land or in the air. Skibbles protects children from bad guys and also helps keep herons safe. Skibbles likes to eat pineapple popsicles on hot summer days and to drink hot cocoa on cold winter nights. Almost no one has ever seen Skibbles because Skibbles likes to stay deep beneath the water; the only time Skibbles comes out is to help herons. You can help Skibbles by keeping the reservoir nice and clean and also by respecting the birds.
